TOMORROW, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12 at 9:30 am
Development sites in the South Village
THE CITY COUNCIL’S SOLE PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED HUDSON SQUARE REZONING AND ITS IMPACT ON THE SOUTH VILLAGE WILL BE TOMORROW, TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 12, STARTING AT 9:30 am at 250 BROADWAY, 16th floor (at Park Place, across from City Hall – bring photo ID).
The City Council will make the final decision as to whether or not the Hudson Square rezoning is approved, and if it is enacted without the landmark protections the South Village needs.
Your presence at the hearing will send a strong message to Speaker Quinn and the City Council that they MUST protect the South Village, and we do not want them to “Midtown” Hudson Square.
HOW TO HELP:
TESTIFY AT THE HEARING – arrive any time from 9:30 am until the hearing ends (likely not before 11:30 at the earliest) and sign up to speak (the earlier the better, and the sooner you will be called). Testimony will be limited to 2-3 minutes, so be brief and write out your testimony. Sample testimony is HERE. If you can, bring 10 copies of your testimony to submit (written submissions can also be longer). Be prepared to wait an hour or more to be called to speak; submit written testimony if you can’t stay until you are called.
COME SHOW SUPPORT – testifying is the best way to help, but if you can’t or don’t want to speak in public, come show your support. Arrive any time from 9:30 on, but the earlier you arrive and the longer you stay the better. GVSHP will provide stickers and signs you can use.
CALL AND WRITE SPEAKER QUINN NOW! She will decide the fate of the Hudson Square rezoning and South Village –Write HERE, and call 212-564-7757; tell her NOT to vote for the Hudson Square rezoning UNLESS the City agrees to landmark the South Village!
Speaker Quinn and the City Council’s decision on the Hudson Square rezoning will have dramatic and irreversible consequences for our neighborhood – make sure they know what you think!
