St. Vincent’s Triangle Park Design Public Hearing

Aerial view of proposed St. Vincent’s Triangle park design

On Wednesday, November 16th at 6:30 pm at the Little Red Schoolhouse Auditorium, 196 Bleecker Street at 6th Avenue, Community Board #2 will hold a final public hearing on the proposed design for the triangle park adjacent to the former St. Vincent's Hospital at 7th Avenue, Greenwich Avenue, and West 12th Street.  The Rudin organization has presented a plan for the design, which provides the required open space as part of their plan for the residential development of the former East Campus of St. Vincent's HospitalRegardless of one's views of that plan (GVSHP has raised some fundamental concerns regarding the proposed rezoning requested), it is important that the public have input into the design of the park if it is built.

There will also be another presentation by advocates for an AIDS memorial design for the park, which can be viewed HERE.

GVSHP has been advocating for a park which is green, permanently publicly accessible, which will be well-maintained in perpetuity, and which looks and feels like many of our more successful small parks.  We believe that inclusion of an AIDS memorial elements can be part of a successful design for the park.
